Beyond creating extraordinary journeys, our vision is to wander through Africa with a lighter footprint — ensuring every trek, climb, and safari nurtures the land and communities that sustain it.
We understand that passive ignorance is no longer an option. Every decision we make, from the lodges we select to the vehicles we operate — is guided by principles of sustainability, equity, and integrity.
We work with eco-conscious partners and champion properties that practice low-impact design, renewable energy use, and local employment. Through every Signature Journey we strive to offset our – and your – environmental impact where possible.
Because we believe Africa is not just our past — it is our future.
And to honor it, we must protect it.
Poaching continues to threaten wildlife across Africa, and Tanzania’s Serengeti ecosystem is no exception. In response, the Serengeti De-Snaring Programme was launched in April 2017, through a collaboration between TANAPA (Tanzania National Parks), the Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS), and other committed conservation partners.
At Savannah Signature Collection, in partnership with Savannah Tours Tanzania, we proudly support initiatives that deliver measurable conservation results. The Serengeti De-Snaring Project reflects our mission — to protect the wild spaces that inspire our journeys and to ensure every guest experience contributes directly to conservation impact.
Specialized patrol teams operate throughout Serengeti National Park, locating and removing wire snares set by poachers who target species such as wildebeest and zebra for bushmeat and hides.
Each team — composed of TANAPA rangers and reformed poachers — uses deep field knowledge to detect poacher camps, dismantle traps, and prevent further harm.
Since its inception, the programme has grown from one team in 2017 to three full-time de-snaring units, each averaging 60 patrol days per month.
1,170 + animals rescued
74,000 + snares removed
Confiscated bushmeat destroyed to halt illegal trade
For every guest night spent within the Serengeti, SSC contributes $1 per person directly to the De-Snaring Teams — sustaining vital patrol operations and protecting Tanzania’s wildlife for generations to come.
