Cradled between the dramatic escarpment of the Great Rift Valley and the shimmering alkaline waters of Lake Manyara, this compact yet remarkably diverse national park is one of Tanzania’s most enchanting destinations. Covering approximately 325 square kilometres, with the lake itself occupying a significant portion, Lake Manyara National Park punches well above its weight in terms of sheer wildlife variety and scenic beauty.
The park is famously associated with its tree-climbing lions — a rare and captivating behaviour observed here and in very few places worldwide. Large herds of elephant roam through lush groundwater forests, while flocks of flamingos paint the lake’s shallow shores in vivid shades of pink.
