Ngorongoro Crater
The world’s largest unbroken volcanic caldera (260 km² wide, 610 m deep) is a natural amphitheater where life thrives. Over 25,000 large mammals graze the crater floor . Cradle of life, circle of wonder. Ngorongoro is an amphitheater of green, its steep walls holding within a living Eden. Here, tens of thousands of animals roam across a floor painted with grass, marsh, and lake. Rhino graze in silence, lions stalk in golden light, flamingos carpet the water’s edge in a blush of pink. Above, the Maasai tend their cattle as they have for centuries, red shúkàs bright against the highland sky. To stand at the crater’s rim is to gaze upon a masterpiece carved by the earth and kept alive by its creatures.
